Sharks D Dillon suspended for slash

Sports Xchange - Wednesday 6th December, 2017

San Jose Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon was suspended for one game without pay for slashing Capitals defenseman Madison Bowey in Washington on Monday.

At 19:55 of the third period of the Caps' 4-1 win over the Sharks, Dillon slammed his stick down on Bowey's left hand with two hands after being pushed into the boards.

Dillon, who has five assists, a plus-1 rating and 27 penalty minutes in 26 games this season, was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for slashing.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Dillon will forfeit $17,580.65. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
