SAN FERNANDO CITY, May 28 (PIA) -- A magnitude 5.2 earthquake rocked La Union at 1:17 p.m. on Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs) reported.
The quake, which was of tectonic origin, can be traced 17 kilometers northwest of this city and has a depth of 57 kilometers.
According to the Earthquake Information No. 2 of Phivolcs issued at 1:59 p.m., the tremor was also felt in other areas at various intensities:
Intensity IV - San Fernando, Caba and Balaoan, all of La Union; and Labrador, Bolinao, and Dagupan City, all of Pangasinan
Intensity III - Urdaneta City and Villasis, both of Pangasinan; Baguio City; Quezon City; Marikina City; and Obando, Bulacan
Intensity II - Cainta, Rizal; San Fernando, Pampanga; Valenzuela City; Navotas City; Pasay City; Paranaque City; City of Manila; City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan
Further, the state agency recorded the following instrumental intensities:
Intensity III - Dagupan City
Intensity II - Vigan City; Baguio City; San Jose, Nueva Ecija
Intensity I - Cabanatuan City; Guagua, Pampanga; Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte; Palayan City; Baguio City; San Idelfonso, Bulacan; Baler, Aurora
