Reigning MLS Defender of the Year Ike Opara of Minnesota United will not play in the MLS is Back Tournament.
The two-time MLS Best XI honoree said Thursday he is continuing his physical rehabilitation on a preexisting condition.
"I'm sad I'm not there with my guys, but will be the biggest fan from home in MN!" he tweeted.
Opara, 31, joined the Loons in a trade from Sporting KC ahead of the 2019 season. In his first season with Minnesota, Opara made 30 appearances and earned his second Defender of the Year trophy (2017).
He has 20 goals and six assists in 180 career MLS matches (153 starts) with Minnesota, Sporting KC (2013-18) and the San Jose Earthquakes (2010-12).
The MLS is Back Tournament is being held from July 8 to Aug. 11 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando.
