COVID-19 TESTING LAB
A team of researchers from Tsinghua University and the university-affiliated Beijing CapitalBio Technology Co., Ltd has developed a mobile testing van, called COVID-19 Mobile Laboratory.
The lab can analyze nucleic acid samples on the spot immediately, allowing people to obtain results within 45 minutes, much faster than before. Also, It is equipped with throat swap sampling robots, virus inactivators and automatic microfluidic chip analyzers.
BILIBILI, BBC COOPERATION
China's popular online entertainment platform Bilibili and BBC Studios have announced a strategic cooperation agreement to expand collaboration on documentary productions.
Bilibili and BBC Studios will jointly produce natural documentary blockbusters, including The Green Planet and The Mating Game. China's sci-fi mogul Liu Cixin will join the production of a new science documentary series, Odyssey into the Future, one of the collaborative projects.
Science and technology have played a key role in China's poverty alleviation. In the past five years, China has focused on the technical bottleneck of the agricultural industry and promoted more than 50,000 new varieties and technologies to increase the quality and efficiency of this industry in poor areas.
China has also sent a number of sci-tech experts to poor areas to provide intellectual support and promote entrepreneurship. Around 1,152 innovation platforms have been established to allocate scientific and technological resources to poor areas.
