SAN JOSE, Tarlac, May 5 (PIA) -- Department of Agriculture (DA) partnered with National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in the provision of livelihood assistance to Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in Tarlac.
The two agencies launched the Abelling Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran para sa Kababayang Katutubo Indigenous Peoples Culturally Responsive, Socioeconomic, Ecology, Agro-Aqua Technology, and Special Services Integrated Ancestral Domain Development Approach (4Ks-IP CREATESS IADDA).
DA Alternate Focal Person June Lacasandile said 4Ks is a program of their agency that aims to develop and improve the productivity of communities by developing sustainable agricultural and livelihood programs.
Moreover, IP CREATESS is a program of NCIP anchored on the principles of holistic and self-determined development of the Abelling IPs in sitio Baag in barangay San Pedro, San Jose town through IADDA.
Under this collaborative program, two IP farmers associations will be organized. Also, 60 IP families shall benefit from the livelihood programs on banana, ube and gabi farming.
There is likewise provision of three carabao farming animals with carts and capacity building activities for the created farmers associations. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
