BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

A China-made aerosolized adenovirus vector COVID-19 vaccine has proved safe in phase-1 clinical trials.

The adenovirus type-5 vector-based COVID-19 vaccine (Ad5-nCoV) was jointly developed by the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, and other Chinese institutions.

Previous work in animal models has shown that a single Ad5-nCoV protects from wild-type SARS-CoV-2 replication in the upper respiratory tract. Mucosal immunity has potential benefits in triggering mucosal and systemic immune defense, thereby preventing pathogens from invading the mucosal surface.

A new-generation weather radar station with a ground elevation of more than 4,600 meters has been put into trial operation in northwest China's Qinghai Province.

The station, which is the highest altitude weather radar station in China, is located at the hinterland of the Sanjiangyuan area.

It will provide weather monitoring for animal husbandry production, ecological environment protection, disastrous weather forecasts and early warning, and aviation meteorological services in the region.

China's Mars rover Zhurong has reached an area with complex terrain.

After exploring a second dune, Zhurong moved southward and arrived at the area full of rocks, impact craters and dunes.

The ground control will complete the visual positioning and path planning based on the daily navigation terrain images taken by the rover, and control Zhurong to traverse the area safely.
