Researchers have developed a new type of strong and lightweight cermet biomimetic material with a high damping property.

Light, strong, tough and simultaneously damping materials are highly attractive for a range of applications. Normally, these qualities would be mutually exclusive from each other and achieving a combination of them is no easy task, according to a recent research article published in the journal Materials Today.

Modern technologies are enabling people to better understand the vast Qinghai-Tibet Plateau as Chinese scientists put the drone-based Internet of Things (IoT) into its ecosystem monitoring.

An innovative system has been deployed to retrieve monitored data on wildlife, phenology and the environment on the vast and remote plateau via integrated technologies and devices.

A joint research team has improved the previous drone-based Internet of Remote Things system and innovatively integrated the system with devices for ecosystem monitoring, and the data remotely retrieved by drones.

A team of Chinese scientists and their overseas counterparts have for the first time discovered evidence of a lunar tide-induced signal in the Earth's plasmasphere, the inner region of the magnetosphere, which is filled with cold plasma.

The study, jointly conducted by scientists from Shandong University, the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and other institutes, was recently published in the journal Nature Physics.
